Ditching the grind to heal my mind.
I watched my father work himself to death.
Yep- that’s heavy, but for a man who exercised and ate extremely well, the only other explanation for his illness was stress. That stress was due to working around the clock, and being emotionally attached to every success and failure…
Despite what I watched and learned I turned out the EXACT. SAME. WAY.
Sooo hey! I’m Kealey. I’ve worked in television for over a decade and while there have been some really high highs, there have been some really low lows. I haven’t been unemployed since I was 15 years old and sadly used to wear that as a badge of pride. No sick days, never used my vacation... yikes.
It took completely falling apart before I woke up and realized the pattern I had fallen into, but I’m grateful for the clarity it brought me.
My amazing, supportive husband and I agreed to use a chunk of money originally intended for a down payment on a house to take time off work and prioritize our bucket lists. We have 8 months ahead to explore and hopefully gain some perspective before we make our next move. Our budget won’t last forever, so we’re MAKING IT COUNT!
As someone who has not-so-secretly always wanted to be a published author, this journey felt like the perfect time to dust off the ol’ typewriter.
Feel free to follow along, and I hope we’ll make some discoveries together :)
